Half of the ordinary baryonic matter has been tough to find but Fast Radio Bursts made it possible to detect the WHIM. Thanks to Kiwico for sponsoring this video! For 20% off go to kiwico.com/veritasium or use code VERITASIUM at checkout.

When he says “by about ten seconds after the Big Bang…” I get a little itchy. Ten seconds…but from whose perspective? Do standard time measurements even have meaning compressible for humans when you’re talking about the beginning of Everything?

He knew the exact first question on everyone's mind, maybe we would have phrased it differently, my version was "Huh?" but that's what I meant, 5% baryonic lives matter is totally unexpected. What I really learned is that I need to be more careful with my quasar gun, who knew it could blow up a galaxy?

The universe is shaped like a donut. The big bang is in the middle (still happening), the "expansion" is the movement of matter out and over the top of the donut. Once the matter reaches the outside, it converges under and into the center of the donut, further fuelng the big bang. The "missing matter" is just on the bottom.

to me the only difference between scientists and not are those that go to school and learn how to do science rather than just learn what science has done. you can spit facts all you want but until you go out and do the measurements yourself and have them peer reviewed youre not a scientist. that being said. those that try to prove pseudoscience with science are uneducated scientists.

Whoa... that was close! I almost had to endure a pathetic video, instead I stopped it at the 0:00-minute mark - because there isn't another half of the universe. The universe is everything and ALL, and IS infinit; there is NO CENTER and it has NO parameters, and simply put - it's everything outside of Earth's atmosphere and including earth and its atmosphere. Those with infinitesimally small brains are unable to think rationally and logically and come up with these zany ideas that are nothing more than PSEUDOSCIENCE ¿`_

If Planck time is the shortest possible interval of time then the Big Bang could not have occurred at t=0 but rather t=Planck time right? If that's true the universe didn't have a beginning but rather existed at t=Planck time.

What is the one percent. Usually universe was there for ever. But things formation is a relative time differential. So differentiation of light gives a value of 0.0002% why minus power 23. A special curvature of light. Say you take 6 surface and take 8 lines you can have the ratio.

@Duc Anh yes, scientists make experiments and research over several years and present their results in protocols where they explain and proof everything.

@Zabuzay so they are probably scientits' deductions. But he say it as if they were facts. I mean he say "scientists has deduced that..." or stuff like that.

You realize how much mass is in Laniakea, now add the dark matter and compress it to the size of 'our' galaxy. It would become a black hole long before that. Now do the same with the ' Hubble bubble ' - same result right? Excuse my skepticism but the Big Bang singularly seems an unobserved over extrapolation. Saw an image of a galaxy billions of light-years distant - alone in empty space ?!! And the energy needed to expand this singularly ? - ' no-one knows where it comes or where it goes ' Hey, if I said Big Bang often enough . . .

Veritasium: Fascinating video, but I'm confused by something. You make an analogy of a prism bending light and a whistler. In passing through a prism, higher frequency light both bends more and slows more. But you say in a whistler the lower frequencies slow more. By what mechanism does this occur?

  • Thạnh Phạm
    Thạnh Phạm

The science of poisoning the world is that bigbang creates 92 natural elements for the universe. Sunlight creates 92 natural elements for the universe. Positrons + and electrons -- rotate very rapidly after 4,6 billion years of creating the Sun ' s core, so the core of the Sun rotates very quickly like A super large electric turbine that produces super large electrical energy. Every second the Sun emits 4,1million tons of electricity create sunlight, sunlight moves the circle back to its original position after 8 hours, so pushes the 8 planet to rotate in order . Sunlight produces lightning and produces nitrogenous fertilizer for thunder Clouds that turn sunlight into positrons + and electrons -- 918 positrons + attract 918 electrons -- creating lightning that produces neutrons 918 positrons + attract 917 electrons -- creates A bolt of lightning that produces protons + 7 protons + absorbs 8 neutrons, attracts 7 electrons -- produces A lightning bolt of nitrogen The envidence is that thunder produces 7 kg of nitrogenous manure, per acre of soil, for a year
